Convener of the Inter University Students’ Federation (IUSF) Wasantha Mudalige and President of the Sri Jayewardenepura University Students' Federation Amila Sandeepa have been arrested along with several others in connection with the protest conducted on 03 October.
Police Spokesman Senior DIG Ajith Rohana stated that the suspects who were arrested by the Thalangama Police will be produced before court today.
He also noted that three drivers were also arrested for transporting protesters from Peradeniya and Tissamaharama areas, in violation of the provincial travel restrictions.
Another three suspects were arrested by the Cinnamon Gardens Police in connection with a protest held at the Zoysa roundabout.
Senior DIG Rohana stated that police are conducting further investigations into the matters.
