Janali Manamperi and Sharmal Dissanayake have been top-seeded in Women’s and Men’s Open Singles respectively at the 103rd Sri Lanka Tennis Nationals, which began on Saturday, August 18 at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association (SLTA) hard courts at Green Path, Colombo-7.
In Women’s Singles, none of the three former champions, Amritha Muttiah, Thisuri Molligoda or last year’s winner Medhira Samarasinghe, is taking part in the Nationals this year creating an opportunity for a new Sri Lanka champion to emerge.
Meanwhile the Men’s Singles segment will be of great significance this time as four-time champion Dineshkanthan Thangarajah will face challenge from last two years winner Sharmal Dissanayake. Among the top-seeds are the runners-up of last two years, Sankha Atukorale and Yasitha de Silva.
The tournament will go on till September 2.
