The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) says the party will no longer support any common candidate at a future election.
JVP politburo member, K.D. Lalkantha told a public meeting organized by the party that the JVP will not support a common candidate in the future.
He said the JVP would instead formulate a programme where the party would put forward an alternative programme to win the people's mandate.
According to Lalkantha, the JVP has failed to properly reap the benefits of the people-centric work carried out by the party.
