JVP jumps off common candidate bandwagon

14 Sep 2018

The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) says the party will no longer support any common candidate at a future election. JVP politburo member, K.D. Lalkantha told a public meeting organized by the party that the JVP will not support a common candidate in the future. He said the JVP would instead formulate a programme where the party would put forward an alternative programme to win the people's mandate. According to Lalkantha, the JVP has failed to properly reap the benefits of the people-centric work carried out by the party. "We hit the tree and get the mangoes to fall, but other collect and enjoy the fruits. We will no longer do that," he said.
