JVP says elections should be held under 3 conditions

Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JPV)  leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake today pointed out three conditions in which the general elections should be held.

Speaking during a press briefing today Dissanayake said that no citizen should be the victim of the coronavirus as a result of having to exercise their franchise at the general elections.

“Public servants including officers in the health sector who will assigned on duty during the election process should not be at risk of contracting the virus.”

Dissanayake further added that the right environment should be in place for political parties to carry on election campaigns.

Dissanayake said these conditions were mandatory for a general election to be held in the country.

The Elections Commission last week announced that the Parliamentary elections will be held on the 5th of August.
