The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) staged a protest against the government today in Colombo.
The JVP said that the protest was staged against the increase in prices of essential commodities as well as taxes imposed by the government.
JVP Parliamentarian Dr. Nalinda Jayathissa said that the protest staged today was the start of many protests the JVP will stage against the government.
He said the government promised to give the public concessions when it was elected to power in 2015 but instead has done the very opposite.
Dr. Nalinda Jayathissa said the JVP wants Parliament dissolved so a new government can be elected to power.
