Vinayagamoorthy Muralitharan alias Col. Karuna Amman arrived at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) a short while ago to provide a statement over the controversial speech he made during a public meeting on 19th June.
Following orders by the Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) to launch an investigation into his controversial statement, the CID summoned Amman on 22nd June to provide a statement.
However, Amman had informed the CID through his lawyers that he was unwell and that he will provide a statement following his recovery.
Karuna Amman addressing a public meeting last Friday (19) stated that he was more dangerous than the Covid-19 virus as he had killed nearly 2,000-3,000 military personnel during the war.
Karuna’s statement drew criticism from many parties who claimed that he was trying to glorify the killing of Sri Lankan soldiers during his time as a LTTE militant.
