Vinayagamoorthy Muralitharan alias Col. Karuna Amman has informed the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) through his lawyers that he is currently unwell and will provide a statement following his recovery.
The CID had summoned Amman yesterday (22) over a controversial statement made by him last week.
The investigation into his statement was launched following orders by the Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP).
Karuna Amman addressing a public meeting last Friday (19) stated that he was more dangerous than the Covid-19 virus as he had killed nearly 2,000-3,000 military personnel during the war.
Karuna’s statement drew criticism from many parties who claimed that he was trying to glorify the killing of Sri Lankan soldiers during his time as a LTTE militant.
