Keells, Union Place closed after two employees test positive for COVID-19

Keells supermarket branch at Union Place has been closed after two of its members had tested positive for COVID-19 today, the management said. It said the two employees were tested positive during random PCR tests carried out yesterday evening. “These two team members will be treated based on the advice of Public Health Inspectors (PHI) and the relevant authorities and all team members that have come into direct and indirect contact with them will undergo PCR tests and have been requested to self-quarantine for 14 days,” it said in a statement. “All operations at Keels Union Place has been temporarily halted and the store closed for sanitization purposes and will reopen following the recommended sanitization procedures by the Epidemiology Unit of the Health Ministry and approval by the PHIs. “The health and safety of our customers and team members is of utmost importance and we will work closely and support the Health Ministry and other authorities for any further requirements. “We continue to urge our customers to adhere to all safety process in place when visiting our stores. We are committed to respecting the privacy of all our customers and team members and kindly request your support in doing the same,” the statement said.
