Kishu Gomes to head both SLTPB and SLTDA

06 Feb 2019

Prominent business leader Kishu Gomes will be officially appointed as Chairman Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) and Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) at 1.30pm today by Minister of Tourism Development, Wildlife & Christian Religious Affairs, John Amaratunga.
The appointment of heads to key tourism bodies, which was originally scheduled to take place on January 29th, was deferred due to a last minute intervention by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.
The appointments of Chairmen to SLTPB, SLTDA, Sri Lanka Convention Bureau (SLCB) and Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management (SLITHM) were scheduled to be formally announced on that day. At that time it was widely speculated that travel industry veteran Ranjit De Silva would be appointed Chairman of SLTDA, but that appears to have been changed by the PM.
Gomes is the former Managing Director/ Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and as director of Chevron Lanka Lubricants PLC.
