Not Mahela Jayawardene, not Rahul Dravid, not Vangipurapu Venkata Sai Luxman - it will be Anil Kumble who will most likely take up reins as India cricket Head Coach from outgoing Ravi Shastri in November.

The odds are stacking up against India Captain Virat Kohli, the India Express said on Saturday (18).

The tenures of Shastri, Bowling Coach Bharat Arun, and Fielding Coach Ramakrishnan Sridhar will come to an end after the T20 World Cup.

Kumble, former Captain and legendary leg-spinner, was Head Coach of India before he decided to step down in 2017 after reports emerged of serious differences with Kohli.

On Thursday (16), a week after the Indian cricket board named former Skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni as a mentor for the T20 World Cup in UAE, Kohli announced that he would step down as India’s T20 Captain, paving the way for the captaincy to be split across formats. He will remain the ODI and Test Skipper of India with Rohit Sharma is tipped to become their next T20 Skipper.

Sources from India team have confirmed the media that at least one senior player had already spoken to Board Secretary Jay Shah saying, “Kohli is losing control. He has lost respect. Some of them have reached their limit when it comes to dealing with him.”
