Labour Party Leader Jeremy Corbyn says a Labour Government will work toward protecting the rights of the Tamils and Muslims in Sri Lanka.
The Labour Party unveiled its manifesto on Thursday to face the UK general elections scheduled on 12 December this year.
"We will work through the UN and the Commonwealth to insist on the protection of human rights for Sri Lanka’s minority Tamil and Muslim populations," the Labour Party manifesto read.
"Human rights and international humanitarian law are fundamental pillars of a secure global system. These principles are under threat," The Party pointed out.
The Labour party says it will appoint human-rights advisers to work across the Foreign Office and government to prioritize a co-ordinated approach to human rights.
The Party added that it will advocate for human rights at every bilateral diplomatic meeting.
