Formalities associated with the franchising of Laksala are reported to have been completed.
In a tweet yesterday (26), State Minister of Batik, Handloom and Local Apparel Products Dayasiri Jayasekara stated that the first outlet is set to open in Florida, USA.
Noting that Sri Lanka has been greatly affected by a drop in tourism caused by the pandemic, he pointed out that this will be a means to earn, while taking Sri Lankan products to the world.
Laksala is the only State owned Gift and Souvenir Shop established under the National Crafts Council and allied Institutions Act.
