Lanka Hospitals revenue declines YoY

By Imsha Iqbal     Lanka Hospitals Corporation PLC (LHC), in its annual report for the financial year 2020, stated that the company earned revenue of Rs. 6.8 billion, which is a year-on-year (YoY) contraction of 10%, due to the pandemic. In comparison, the previous year, Lanka Hospitals earned Rs. 7.5 billion in revenue. Lanka Hospitals Chairman Dr. B. Wijesiriwardena stated that human health activities, residential care, and social work contributed 2.7% to the country's Gross Domestic Profit (GDP) in the year 2020. Accordingly, he said the aforementioned activities had also resulted in a growth of 15%, as a result of increased activities in those particular sectors during “this year of unprecedented border closures and lockdown”. 51.4% of LHC is owned by the state-owned Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation Ltd. (SLIC), which plays the vital role of supporting the Government’s vision of providing world-class healthcare at an affordable price.
