Lanka IOC PLC (LIOC) has appointed Manoj Gupta as its Managing Director replacing Shyam Bohra, who completed his tenure in Sri Lanka recently.
Gupta joined Indian Oil Corporation in 1993 and has since then worked in various assignments, including Aviation and Retail Sales.
Bohra took over as Managing Director of Lanka IOC on September 15, 2015 and has been responsible for bolstering the brand’s image and presence in Sri Lanka.
In a challenging competitive market, he helped the company to not only grow in all segments but also expanded the reach beyond Sri Lanka to countries like Qatar, Maldives & Indonesia.
Under his leadership, Lanka IOC commenced bunkering operations at Trincomalee which strengthened the presence of company as a dominant player in the segment. Despite stiff competition from MNC majors & local companies, the market share of other products also improved significantly.
He moved back to the parent company Indian Oil Corporation yesterday (20).
