The cancellation of police leave has been extended until May 15, Police Spokesperson SP Jaliya Senaratne said today.
Leave for all ranks of police was cancelled from March 26 until April 10 in light of the coronavirus outbreak.
Meanwhile, Senaratne added PCR tests will be conducted on police personnel serving in Covid-19 high risk zones.
The measure has been taken to safeguard the public, policemen, and their family members.
Senaratne added that PCR tests have already been conducted on policemen who were on duty at Suduwella in Ja-Ella and in Bandaranayake Mawatha in Colombo.
Senaratne noted however that the policemen subject to PCR tests had tested negative.
