Following today’s (31) arrest of event organiser Chandimal Jayasinghe and model Piumi Hansamali for organising a birthday party at the Shangri-La hotel in Colombo, the Fort Police is to take legal action against the management of said hotel for allowing such an event to take place.
The actions of Chandimal Jayasinghe, Piumi Hansamali and the hotel management go against the current measures in place to curb the spread of Covid-19 as such gatherings have been prohibited by the government until further notice.
It was reported that nearly 25 attendees were present at the party and the Fort Police is currently carrying out investigations to identify these persons by analysing CCTV footage.
