The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) will be going before the Supreme Court (SC) as well as conducting a ground-level campaign against the draft 20th Amendment to the Constitution.
SJB Spokesperson MP Harin Fernando said the party would file legal action challenging the proposed piece of legislation before the SC.
“We are preparing to take legal action and expect to go before the Supreme Court in the coming days, against the proposed 20th Amendment to the Constitution.”
He said decisions on their action will be taken at today's (7) parliamentary group meeting of the SJB.
In addition, he said that a ground-level campaign as well as a parliamentary campaign to gather support will also be carried out.
“This is the death of democracy in the recent past (sic). We will see how we can rally the entire Opposition in Parliament against this move. We will also carry out a ground-level campaign in this regard as well,” Fernando said.Legal action and agitation campaign against the proposed 20A: SJB
