Legal action taken against 1,300 institutions for violation of health guidelines

Sri Lanka Police has filed cases against 1,300 government and private companies that did not follow health guidelines in respect to COVID-19. Police Media Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana stated that 12,012 institutions have been inspected since January 10. A total of 1,389 public and private institutions that did not follow health care procedures were found and 1,300 of them have been prosecuted. It is stated that out of the 407 institutions inspected yesterday (08), 38 institutions have acted contrary to the health care procedures. Meanwhile, 15 people have been arrested in the past 24 hours for not wearing face masks and not keeping distance. Accordingly, 3,056 persons have been arrested since October 30 last year, said the Spokesman.
