Legal action taken against 1,505 institutions for violating health guidelines

Police spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana stated that legal action has been taken against the administrators of 1,505 institutions for failing to comply with health instructions given to prevent the spread of COVID-19. He further said that 31 persons who did not adhere to social distancing and did not wear face masks were arrested in the last 24 hours. So far, 2,662 persons have been arrested by the police and about 2,500 of them have been charged and the rest will be taken to court in the future, said Rohana. He said that the authorities would continue to conduct PCR and antigen tests on the people leaving the Western Province and Colombo to identify COVID patients. The Spokesman urged the public to always wear face masks and adhere to health advice.
