Gamer.LK announces Mercantile Esports Championship 2021
Gamer.LK, a leader in e-sports and digital entertainment experiences in Sri Lanka, has announced the return of the Mercantile Esports Championship 2021, powered by Samsung. The Championship, to be held in its sixth edition, is recognised as the largest annual mercantile sporting event, with 20 different game titles to choose from.

Sri Lanka PUBG Mobile teams amongst best of Asia

“Sri Lankan Gamers” who have qualified for the ‘Red Bull Mobile E-sports Open (MEO) Season-4 Asia Regional Final’ are revving up to fight for the Asian PUBG MOBILE crown, which was set to take place yesterday (21). During the Asian qualifiers held earlier, over 900 teams across 30 countries competed in a series of hard-fought games. The four winning teams representing Sri Lanka are ‘WG - NRC Esports’, ‘nA - FRag’, ‘nA - ERBIV’, and ‘Team VP’. ‘NRC’ currently holds No. 1 position on the official national PUBG Mobile ranking in Sri Lanka while ‘FRag’ and ‘ERBIV’ hold Nos. 4 and 6 respectively.

LPL 2021: Dambulla Giants aiming to lead the way

Qamar Khan, CEO of London-based Hamro Foundation, are the owners of the franchise Dambulla Giants, which was named Dambulla Viikings last year. “I have always been a supporter of cricket, from grassroots teams … An opportunity arose for me to purchase the Dambulla franchise and support the T20 league in Sri Lanka, a country I fell in love with during my first visit in 2010,” Khan said in a statement last week.

Softlogic gets Colombo Stars in LPL

LPL’s Colombo franchise has a new owner as Softlogic Holdings PLC’s Founder and Chairman Ashok Pathirage has entered the second season of the country’s premier cricket league. He has acquired Colombo Stars, led by Angelo Mathews. The team was formerly known as Colombo Kings, and was owned by Murfad Mustafa, a Dubai-based Indian businessman. LPL-2 will be held from 5-23 December.

CICT continues support to Sri Lanka’s wheelchair tennis
