LPL to go on despite two teams withdrew

Colombo Kings and Dambulla Viiking, two franchises of the five-team Lanka Premier League (LPL), have their contracts terminated, it was reported yesterday (27).

The two franchises have withdrawn from the second edition of the tournament, to be held from 30 July-22 August. The organisers said that two other franchises have been lined up to replace the outgoing ones.

Sachiin Joshi and Viiking Ventures owned Dambulla Viiking while Colombo Kings was owned by Murfad Mustafa and Faza Group.

Meanwhile the new LPL 2021 Technical Committee includes Chairman Charith Senanayake, Vinothen John, Shane Fernando, and T.H. Wijewardene.
