The death toll of the conflict at the Mahara Prison, at which the police had opened fire, has increased to eight, stated the Director of the Ragama hospital Dr Shelton Perera.
He further stated that the majority of those injured and hospitalised so far are in critical condition.
There have been 52 injured persons admitted to the Ragama hospital so far.
