The female member of the Maharagama Urban Council has been arrested for assaulting a fellow councillor today.
Police Media Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana stated that the suspect has been produced before the Nugegoda Magistrate's Court.
In her complaint, the victim had claimed that the suspect had assaulted her using her hands and pushed her over during the incident.
DIG Ajith Rohana said the incident had occurred within the Maharagama Urban Council premises on the 15th of April.
The assaulted Councillor is currently receiving treatment at the Jayewardenepura Hospital.
