Former Sports Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage made a startling revelation just a short while ago in Parliament today (05) when he said he was not satisfied with the investigations pertaining to cricket match-fixing which he was involved in. "During the investigation, the Chairman of the Cricket board was not questioned. Neither was a statement taken by the Sri Lanka cricket team manager. I clearly told the investigators that the players are not involved in anything. Yet, to distract the investigation, the cricketers were dragged into the investigation. Former head of Sri Lanka Cricket's 2011 ICC World Cup Suraj Dandeniya, Secretary Nishantha Ranatunga, Chairman D S De Silva have not been investigated despite me repeatedly telling the CID to do so." said Aluthgamage. Aluthgamage went on to say that to his utter disappointment, the 2011 ICC World Cup match fixing investigations ended abruptly, without any conclusion. When cross-questioned by Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Mujibur Rahuman as to why the investigation cannot be re-opened, Aluthgamage stated that he was ridiculed and condemned by the public for wanting to re-open the match-fixing investigation. "I wanted to re-open the case, whereas at the last general elections my ranking dropped drastically as people ridiculed me. There was a special campaign set up by people asking me not to request for an investigation again. I only wanted the best for the investigation. I am not saying that the officials are to be blamed, but I know that they know more information than what they are actually revealing." concluded Aluthgamage.
