Manchester City is ever so close to reaching the Champions League Finals for the first time as they beat Paris Saint-Germain by two goals to nil in the Semis' first leg at Paris.

English Premium League leaders Manchester put on a superior show in their win over PSG in the first leg. Pep Guardiola's side came out with a dominating second half after they fell behind to Marquinhos' header. It came in the fifteenth minute through a brilliant corner by Angel Di Maria.

Man City was cautious in the first half and once they conceded the first goal, they were put under a lot of pressure. The only time they expressed themselves, Phil Foden found himself in the box but his shot was hit straight at Kaylor Navas.

In the second half, Manchester City looked more fluent and the home side looked to park the bus than look for a second goal. It proved to be their downfall as Kevin de Bruyne's tempting cross evaded everyone in the penalty area and curved into the goal.

In the lead-up to the game, Pep showed his worries over the threat of Kylian Mbappe and Neymar. The city defence showed quality as they subdued both Mbappe and Neymar. In form, Mbappe was almost invisible throughout the game and he couldn’t even get a shot on goal.

The game was drifting towards City Riyad Mahrez put the icing on the cake with his left-foot free-kick that went through the wall to much disappointment of Navas.

It went from bad to worse for the home side when former Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye was rightly shown a red card late for a reckless challenge on Ilkay Gundogan.

Kevin De Bruyne gave the Player of the Match award. We must mention City’s two centre-backs Ruben Dias and John Stones. Apart from the goal they conceded, they were rock solid at the back. Joao Cancelo and Kyle Walker stepped up their attacking game in the second half which propelled City towards the win.
