While Serie A and the Bundesliga winners were decided last week, Man City at the brink of lifting the Premier League,  LaLiga and Ligue 1 is building up to riveting final few weeks to decide on who will lift the league this season.

* LaLiga: Barcelona, Atletico, and Real Madrid go winless on the weekend

Barcelona had the best opportunity to go on top of the league table when they hosted Atletico Madrid on Saturday. However, the game ended in a goalless draw which saw Atletico holding on to their top position for yet another week. Real Madrid had a scare against Sevilla on Sunday. Sevilla opened the scoring in the 22nd minute through Fernando. It took Real Madrid 67 minutes to find the equalizer through Marc Asensio. Sevilla managed to get ahead once again through a successful penalty by Ivan Rakitic. The match was in the bag for Sevilla but a late injury-time goal from Eden Hazard saw Real Madrid stay in second place.

With the three games to go, it has come down to a three-horse race. Atletico Madrid at the top with 77 points, Barcelona and Real Madrid are on level points, two points behind Atletico with 75. But Real Madrid is slightly ahead with fewer defeats in the season.

* Ligue 1: PSG slip points with a draw while Lille extend the gap to three points at the top

It was a week to forget for Paris Saint-Germain. After their exit from the Champions League semi-final, they had to settle for a draw against Rennes. Neymar put PSG ahead through a penalty in the first half, but a second-half goal Serhou Guirassy made things even. PSG was down to ten men when Kimpembe was shown the red and that put them in the back foot until the final whistle. Lille managed to beat Lens by three goals to nil on Saturday. Two goals from Burak Yilmaz and a third from Jonathan David earned them the win. With this win, Lille is now three points clear of second-placed PSG with two games to play.

* Premier League: Tuchel’s Chelsea beat Man City for the second time

This was the second time Tuchel led his team to victory over Man City this season. The first occasion was in the FA Cup and he will be hoping it will three when they meet on the Champions League Final. City dominated the first half with Raheem Stirling putting his team ahead. In the second half, Chelsea found their rhythm and found the equalizer through Hakim Ziyech. The winner came in injury time through Marcos Alonso. Chelsea’s win meant that City would have to wait until their next game to secure the title.

Manchester United once again came from behind to win their tie against Aston Vila by three goals to one on Sunday. Bertrand Traore put Vila ahead going into halftime. A penalty from Bruno Fernandes and two stunning goals from Mason Greenwood and Edinson Cavani secured another brilliant comeback for the red devils.

West Bromwich Albion’s 3-0 defeat against Arsenal meant that they will be relegated this season. They join Sheffield United and most probably it will be Fulham to join them at the end of the season. Fulham has four games left with a nine-point deficit with Burnley. There only chances are if Burnley loses all their remaining games.
