Pep Guardiola added yet another trophy to his cabinet as Manchester City secured the trophy after Manchester United’s defeat to Leicester City on Tuesday night.

It was on the cards for a couple of weeks for City to secure the title, few slip ups against town rivals Man United and Chelsea, saw them drop a few points which delayed the title confirmation. However, Tuesday’s result at Old Trafford left United with 70 points from 35 matches, which meant City is safe at the top with three games in hand.

Remarkable

It was a remarkable season for City who suffered in the first half of the season. They enjoyed a magnificent turnaround after picking up 12 points from their first eight games registering their worst start since 2008-09. With the new recruitments at the back line, Pep found the perfect balance in the team and they looked apart since then. They enjoyed 15-game winning run and a record-equaling 11 successive away league wins.

Pep speaking after the title confirmation, “This has been a season and a Premier League title like no other. This was the hardest one. We will always remember this season for the way that we won. I am so proud to be the manager here and of this group of players. They are so special. To come through this season -- with all the restrictions and difficulties we’ve faced -- and show the consistency we have is remarkable. To come through this season, with all the restrictions and difficulties we’ve faced -- and show the consistency we have is remarkable. It is relentless.”

Tally goes up to 31

With this title Guardiola’s tally goes up to 31, a country-mile above all current Managers. After joining City in 2016, Guardiola carried City to their first title in the following season. In that season, City finished with a league-record 100 points. They retained their title the next season after a thrilling title race, finishing a point ahead of Liverpool. With this league win, Guardiola has now won three league titles in every division he has managed.

It would be a fitting end for one of the best players Manchester City, Sergio Aguero. He is set to leave the club after this season, he will walk away with another Premier League title and as the club's most-decorated player with 15 trophies to his name. However, City is still not done yet this season. They will be playing their biggest match in the club’s history as they play Chelsea in the Champions League Final on the 30th of May.
