Former Minister Mangala Samaraweera has left the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) after providing nearly a 5 hour long statement.
Samaraweera was reportedly summoned to the CID over the incident of transporting Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) residing in the Puttalam district to the Northern Province(NP) to cast their votes during the presidential election last year.
According to reports, the former Finance Minister was to be questioned on his involvement with the payments made to the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) to transport the voters from Puttalam district to NP.
