Maximum security guaranteed for Easter: Army Commander

02 Apr 2021

Army Commander General Shavendra Silva says that maximum security has been provided to the people for the celebration of Easter Sunday. The Army Commander expressed these views while participating in the 'Derana Aruna' programme this morning. The Army Commander further said that the public would be able to participate in the services without any fear by following the social distancing and other health guidelines. The Army Commander further commented, “It can be very difficult to provide security for every church. Not only churches but also some hotels were attacked on Easter Sunday two years ago." "Accordingly, in addition to the police, the Armed Forces have provided the most appropriate security to the people. Sometimes we try our best to provide as much security as possible, even if there are no military or police personnel on site. Although, we cannot put it in every place, we have made plans under a system that provides security in the area in general. These plans have been implemented since the beginning of this week. The next two days will be similar," he said.
