Labour Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva said today that a gazette has been issued increasing the maximum severance payment to be paid to employees up to Rs. 2.5 million.
He said the earlier maximum payment was Rs. 1.25 million which he said was not enough for any employee.
The Minister said the new law is in effect from February 19.
