By Kusumanjalee Thilakarathna PHOTOS © SAMAN ABESIRIWARDANA This week on The Sunday Morning Little Stars cover are two brothers from Beliatta who share a passion for cricket. The older brother Dulneth Dulsara is 13 years old and the younger brother Geeneth Githsara is only nine years old.  Q: Can you introduce yourselves to us? A: Dulneth: I am Dulneth Dulsara and I am currently studying in Beliatta Maha Vidyalaya. I am in grade eight and I am 13 years old. My mother’s name is Asha and my father is Premadasa. My main hobby is playing cricket. Apart from that, I like to read books and help my parents with household chores. I attended Praggnanandhaa Primary School until grade five. I also attend Dhamma School every Sunday. Geeneth: I am Geeneth Githsara. I am nine years old. I am in grade three now. My school is Praggnanandhaa Primary School. I am looking forward to joining my brother at his school when I am in grade six. My hobby is playing cricket too. I also like to watch cartoons and draw. Q: When did you start playing cricket? A: Dulneth: I have been playing cricket since I was very young. I wanted to join the school cricket practices when I joined Beliatta Maha Vidyalaya but I couldn’t do that because of the pandemic. I started school practices this year and I am looking forward to joining our school cricket team soon. Geeneth: I started playing cricket because of my brother. I still don’t attend any practices.  Q: What is the best storybook you have read so far? A: Dulneth: For me, it’s ‘Sherlock Holmes’. He is the best detective in the world and has so many analytical skills. He is really smart and can figure out any complex case. I haven’t read all of his stories yet, but I am looking forward to reading more ‘Sherlock Holmes’ books. Geeneth: I don’t really like reading storybooks very much. But when Aiya reads stories he tells me what happens to the characters and how the story ended. Since school restarted after the pandemic, all he talks about is Sherlock Holmes. I too am beginning to like him.  Q: What’s your most favourite show on TV? A: Dulneth: I don’t really watch any programmes on TV. I find them boring.  Geeneth: I like to watch TV but not all the time. Sometimes when Aiya is not home and I have no one to play with, I switch on the TV. I mostly watch cartoons. My favourite show is ‘Sootin Martin’. Q: What is your favourite subject in school? A: Dulneth: Maths. I like Information Technology (IT) too. Geeneth: My favourite subject is maths too.  Q: Both of you said you like to draw. What do you like to draw? A: Dulneth: Anything really. I draw mostly in school and when we can’t go out to play. Geeneth: I like to draw very much. That’s one of my main hobbies. Q: What is your ambition?  A: Dulneth: I want to become a software engineer. Geeneth: I want to become a doctor.   Q: Dulneth, why do you want to become a software engineer? A: One of my favourite subjects is IT. We have heard about software engineering at school. Most of the applications and websites we use were developed by software engineers. I want to create applications like that in the future. I know I have to work really hard to get there but I am willing to put in that effort. Q: Geeneth, why do you want to become a doctor? A: I believe helping those who are sick and suffering is a great deed. When I am a doctor, I will be able to stop people from suffering. I really want to help them and make them better.  Q: Geeneth, is it your brother who helps you with your homework? A: Well, my mother also helps me to complete my homework. She mostly helps me with maths. My brother always helps me with Sinhala language.  Q: Is there anything you would like to say about your brother? A: Dulneth: Well, he is my best friend. We play together, study together, and get most of the things done together. When he was young, he was just like my shadow. He was always behind me. I really like to have him around.  Geeneth: My brother is very smart. He helps me in everything I do. He also inspires me to do new things and try out things that I am afraid to do. I am glad to have a brother like him.
