The six-member ministerial Committee is not expected to interfere when taking action against the suspects of the Easter Sunday attacks, the President's Media Division said today.
In a statement, it said the Committee has no mandate to add new recommendations to the report of the PCoI on Easter Attacks as well.
"As per the recommendations of the PCoI report, filing of cases against the suspects and hearing of cases will be done in line with standard procedures. The Committee is not to expected to interfere in this or make new recommendations. However, some elements try to create a different picture by distorting facts, " it said.
The PMD said the responsibility of the Committee is to report how to prevent tragedies like Easter attacks from taking place again in the country and to ensure peace and security in the country.
