Ministry of Justice goes digital

The Ministry of Justice has announced through a media release that effective today (04), all formalities related to the Ministry would be digitalized and a digital signature would be implemented. Additionally, the release goes on to state that under the patronage of the Minister of Justice Ali Sabry, a committee has been appointed to overlook the digitalisation of the Ministry affairs, with Sabry launching the programme by placing his own digital signature. It was stated that the programme was initiated due to the pandemic, to help speed up procedures which would otherwise require a physical signature. The digital signature meets international standards as per ISO 27001:2013, which was accredited in 2006 under the 19th Electronic Transaction Act which is to recognise and facilitate the the formation of contracts, the creation and exchange of data messages, electronic mail, electronic documents and other communications in electric form in Sri Lanka. In attendance at the event was Secretary to the Ministry of Justice M.M.P.K Mayadunne, Ministry of Justice Additional Secretary Thushara Suraweera, LANKACLEAR Chairman Kenneth De Zilwa and LANKACLEAR CEO Channa Perera.
