Mobile vaccination centers for those confined to homes: Prez

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has instructed officials to commence a mobile vaccination program to administer vaccines to people who are confined to their homes due to various illnesses. The President’s Media Division said that President Rajapaksa had stressed the immediate need for a vaccination program that would benefit people who are confirmed to their homes by obtaining information via dedicated hotlines with the assistance of the Medical Officer for Health and the Public Health Inspector of the area. The instructions were given by the President at the Friday (16) morning meeting with the COVID-19 Prevention Committee on Vaccination. The committee told the President that it was revealed that a majority of COVID-19 infections and deaths detected in recent days were those who had not obtained the COVID-19 vaccine. Therefore, the President had stressed the need to raise awareness on the vaccination drive as well as to direct the people towards obtaining the vaccine. According to the President’s Media Division, both Ministers Prasanna Ranatunga and Rohitha Abeygunawardena had pointed out that all the people over the age of 30 in the Gampaha and Kalutara Districts can be vaccinated in the next four days. The President’s Media Division said the vaccination of investment promotion zones and tourism zones had reached 90%. President Gotabaya Rajapaksa had also noted the need to install facilities for any person employed in any sector to obtain the COVID-19 vaccine from any vaccination center with ease. State Minister of Indigenous Medicine Promotion, Rural and Ayurveda Hospitals Development and Community Health​, Sisira Jayakody had said that COVID-19 treatment to patients at Ayurveda Centers was taking place successfully and that zero deaths were reported.
