A 35 year old mother has given birth to a baby at home last evening (12), before killing and cremating the newborn in Kantale.
Police Media Spokesman, Senior DIG Ajith Rohana stated that it was reported that the mother had committed the crime within hours of giving birth to the baby.
The woman's husband has been working in a Middle Eastern country for about four years now, police said.
The woman has been arrested by the Kantale Police and is a mother of three.
Police say that the burnt body of the baby has been found.
