Motion filed by Sirisena to remove himself from Easter Attacks case denied by court

A motion which was filed by former President and Leader of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) Maithripala Sirisena has been denied by the district court in Colombo.  The former President filed the motion requesting for him to be removed from the Easter Attacks investigations case that is currently underway.  The Presidential Commission of Inquiry (CoI) on the 2019 Easter bombings had recommended that criminal proceedings be instituted against former President Maithripala Sirisena and others who they claimed held responsibility for the Easter attacks that took place in April 2019.
