MoU signed to digitize judicial system; first phase to be completed by end of 2021

11 Feb 2021

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed among the Justice Ministry, Judicial Services Commission, the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Information and Communication Technology Agency (ICTA) today to digitize the entire judicial system. The Justice Ministry said the management of judicial affairs, maintaining court cases and issuance of court reports and the facility to pay fines online would be available once the programme is implemented. The first phase is to be completed by the end of this year. All documents and reports would be stored in the Lanka Government Cloud and data security would be maintained. The ministry said this will help in moving up in the Doing Business Index internationally, and increase investments as well. The project is funded by the Treasury.
