Chief Opposition Whip, JVP Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake says the proposed 20th Amendment to the Constitution would benefit former President Mahinda Rajapaksa the most.
Dissanayake had made this observation when he called on the Mahanayake of the Malwathu Chapter, the most Ven. Thibbotuwawe Sri Sumangala Thero in Kandy yesterday.
The JVP Leader explained that under the 20th Amendment, Rajapaksa will be eligible to become the executive Prime Minister and lead the government as well as the Cabinet of Ministers, thereby giving him another chance of assuming office.
He has noted that as for President Maithripala Sirisena, he would be able to serve as President until a new President is appointed under the 20th Amendment.
“We believe that the best form of governance for the country is by a leader who would be responsible to parliament,” Dissanayake noted.
