Multi-day fishing vessels issued warning due to strong winds

The Meteorological Department has issued a warning for multi-day fishing vessels in the seas due to the increase in wind conditions. The announcement will be valid for three days from yesterday (28). The Department said strong winds of 50 to 65 km per hour will be experienced in the sea areas. “Therefore, the marine and fisheries community should be extra careful,” the Meteorological Department said in a warning. Meanwhile, it said that showers in the Central, Sabaragamuwa, Western and North Western provinces and in some places in the Galle and Matara districts are likely to exceed 100 mm. The Department said that there is a possibility of strong thundershowers at some places in those areas. The Meteorological Department warns the public to take safety measures in the event of lightning and thunderstorms.
