Convener of the Force Against Corruption, Namal Kumara has implicated Field Marshal Minister Sarath Fonseka in the alleged plot to assassinate President Maithripala Sirisena and several opposition VIPs.
Namal Kumara has told the media that he had referred to Fonseka in his initial confidential statements given to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID).
He has added that the recent public statement made by Fonseka proves what he has told the CID.
According to Namal Kumara, Fonseka was the closest political associate of former head of the Terrorism Investigations Division (TID) DIG Nalaka de Silva.
He has also alleged that Fonseka was behind the alleged assassination plot.
“I believe that the President will look into this matter and if he inquires about it from me I will reveal it to him,” Namal Kumara has said.
Namal Kumara earlier implicated DIG de Silva in an alleged plot to assassinate the President and several opposition VIPs. The CID is currently in the process of recording a statement from the DIG.
