A National Environmental Policy is being Constitutionally drafted under the leadership of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Secretary of the Ministry of Environment Dr. Anil Jasinghe said today (03).
He stated that this policy hopes to solve practical problems faced by Sri Lanka in relation to its ecosystems and wildlife.
"The policy will outline environmentally sensitive areas which will be scientifically composed by taking into account the topography, geography, species, and other specifics of such areas that need special attention," he said.
These statements were made at a special media briefing held today at the Ministry of Environment.
Dr. Jasinghe also added that the exercise will be malleable to each locale in an effort to maintain and enhance biodiversity.
