30 Sep 2021

In line with the removal of the quarantine curfew at 4.00 am tomorrow, the Ministry of Health has issued a series of new health guidelines to be followed. Accordingly, citizens are prohibited from leaving their homes unless it is for employment, medical services or for the purchase of essential goods. As per the new guidelines, all non-essential travel is restricted from 10.00 am to 04.00 pm daily. Supermarkets, pharmacies, groceries, and shops are only allowed to serve 10% of the accommodation capacity at a time. Public transport will be restricted to seating capacities. Salons and barbershops may operate on an appointment basis. Restaurants will remain closed until October 15. After this date, they will be permitted to function for dine-in with only 30% capacity or with a maximum of 50 customers. Meanwhile, daycare centers are allowed to function, while pre-schools can operate with 50% of capacity. However, the guidelines dictate that tuition classes are also not permitted to be held even after the curfew is lifted. In terms of meetings and conferences, 25 people can attend at a time. This will be in effect until October 15. From then on until the end of the month, the cap of 25 will increase to 50. A maximum of 10 people will be allowed to be present for wedding registrations from October 01 to 15. Following this, until the end of the month, this cap will be increased to 50 as well. Further, funerals of non-COVID-19 deaths must be carried out within 24 hours of releasing the body with only 10 persons attending at any given time. Other events such as parties however, will be prohibited.
