The Police is to set up a new division to uncover illegal assets of criminals, The Morning learnt.
Police Media Spokesman SSP Jaliya Seneratne told The Morning that the division would be set up in the coming weeks.
“The division will uncover illegally attained assets and use the (Prevention of) Money Laundering Act to file cases,” the Police Media Spokesman said, adding that the Divison Director was appointed last week.
He noted that a similar unit was already active.
