The National Remittance Mobile Application titled “SL-Remit” will be launched soon and is expected to further attract foreign remittances, said Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivard Cabraal.
He made this statement today during the campaign launch to promote the SL-REMIT mobile app.
"We know that close to 7 billion dollars is due from the Middle East and other countries. It has been a huge help in maintaining our foreign reserves. But we are aware of monies emitted into the country through other means, and we receive an amount lower than that officially. Therefore, we plan on moving forward under the SL-REMIT app and we plan on doing this immediately," said Cabraal.
Cabraal went on to say that the SL-REMIT app will help bring in funds into the country in a much smoother process, and further stated that with this process, an additional 2 billion US Dollars can be brought into the country.
