New Tamil alliance to contest PC polls

A new Tamil alliance will contest the next Provincial Council elections in the North, former Tamil National Alliance Parliamentarian and Eelam People’s Revolutionary Liberation Front (EPRLF) Leader Suresh Premachandran said.

Premachandran told The Sunday Morning that the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) has failed to meet the expectations of the Tamils in the North.

He said that the TNA leadership is attempting to convince the Tamils that once a new Constitution is created, the issues faced by the Tamils in the North will be resolved.

“The question is if the Constitution will be a new one or just reforms to the existing one,” he said.
He said that since his party is not working with the TNA anymore it will be joining a new alliance set to contest the next Provincial Council elections in the North.

Premachandran said that more details on the leadership of the new alliance will be made public soon.
