Double Olympian Niluka Karunaratne announced his retirement from all local events yesterday (21) after clinching his 17th national badminton men’s single title in Colombo.
He beat Ransindu Hendahewa in the final 21/17, 21/16 while Hasini Ambalangodage beat Hasara Wijerathne 21/14, 21/9 to win the corresponding women’s single title.
