President Gotabaya Rajapaksa said today that the environment would not be destroyed because of the Gama Samaga Pilisandarak programme that is taking place under his patronage in rural villages.
Speaking at the 10th Gama Samaga Pilisandarak programme in Meemure, Ududumbara, the President said some people raised concerns through social media that the programme leads to environmental destruction.
"When it was reported that I'm about to come here today, they said that is to destroy the environment which is wrong. Meemure is a historical and scenic village. We want to upgrade the livelihood of the people as well," he said.
