The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has not obtained any evidence to launch investigations against Minister Rishad Bathiudeen and Eastern Province Governor M.L.A.M. Hizbullah, well-informed sources at the Department of Police told The Sunday Morning.
The police source said that investigations conducted on the Easter Sunday attacks had not revealed any links between the group involved and Minister Bathiudeen or Governor Hizbullah.
The source said that if the Police were to arrest Bathiudeen and Hizbullah based on mere speculation, then a fundamental rights violation case can be filed in the Supreme Court against the Police.
Last month, the Police Headquarters in Colombo recorded the two complaints made against Minister Bathiudeen and Governor Hizbullah and following the receipt of the complaints, the Police Headquarters had referred the inquiries to the CID.No evidence for CID probe
