No joint protests with the 'JO' - JVP

16 Oct 2018

The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) says the party will not hold joint protests with the 'joint opposition' against the government or the current economic crisis. JVP trade union wing leader, politburo member K.D. Lalkantha said the JVP will hold a protest rally in Colombo on Tuesday (23) against the rising cost of living and the many burdens being placed on the general public by the government. He explained that although the 'JO' has also protested about economic crisis and the burdens on the public, the JVP will not invite the 'JO' for the protest campaign the party is to launch from the 23rd. When asked about the venue of the protest on the 23rd, Lalkantha said the location of the protest will be made public if necessary on Monday (22). However, everyone participating in the protest are already aware of the location and there would not be any issue as a result, he added.
