No legal basis for Forensic Audit - Mahindananda

18 Feb 2020

State Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage today claimed that the forensic audit conducted on the Central Bank  bond scam was not done on the recommendation of the Auditor General and therefore had no legal basis. Aluthgamage speaking at today's (18) parliamentary session said that the Central Bank had called for a forensic audit without the approval of the Auditor General. "The Auditor General is vested with the power to call for an audit and file a case in court. However the proper procedure was not followed," Aluthgamage pointed out. He said that the Auditor General should have ideally conducted a Forensic Audit on the CBSL bond scam without having it being out sourced to third parties. "Rs. 200 million was spent by the previous government for a document that currently has no 'legal basis,"Aluthgamage added.
